The Harbour Concerts End Thursday. Here's Where Palmetto Dunes' Fall Goes Next.

The fall run of Music & Taste on the Harbour has one night left. It's Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Neptune statue, with Deas Guyz, the same band that opened the season on Sept. 10. Since Sept. 10, a resident of Palmetto Dunes could head to Shelter Cove on a Thursday night, sit by the water and listen to a band for free. After this week, the weekly outdoor routine at Shelter Cove moves to Saturday mornings at Shelter Cove Community Park. Most evening plans from here to Thanksgiving need a ticket, a reservation or a fixed price.

The rest of this post follows that change in order, from the stacked night at the marina to the Thanksgiving tables back inside the gate.

Thursday, Oct. 15 Carries Three Calendars At Once

The last harbour concert lands on a crowded date. Three things share that Thursday:

  • Music & Taste on the Harbour, 6 to 9 p.m. at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina. It's free, pet-friendly and weather permitting. Organizers ask for a canned good for The Deep Well Project. Seating is limited, so bring your own chairs. Coolers and outside food or drinks are not allowed. Shelter Cove's calendar gives 13 Harbourside Lane as the GPS address.
  • Alexander's Aperture Cellars wine dinner, 6 to 9 p.m. Palmetto Dunes' October newsletter calls it one of the restaurant's last two wine dinners of 2026.
  • Day one of the Special Olympics South Carolina Pickleball Invitational. Special Olympics South Carolina lists it for Oct. 15 to 17 at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis and Pickleball Center. The resort's newsletter says volunteers are still needed for all three days.

The two evening events start at the same hour and end at the same hour, so a household has to pick one. The concert is the one that won't come back until spring. Shelter Cove describes the series as running on select Thursdays "during the spring and fall." Featured Shelter Cove Harbour restaurants set up around Neptune with specially priced light appetizers, wine and beer. That makes it the easiest way to try several harbour kitchens in one evening without booking a table.

The Weekly Habit Moves To Saturday Morning

The night before the last concert, Shelter Cove Community Park hosts the event that starts the next part of the calendar. The Crescendo Kickoff Celebration runs Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. at 40 Shelter Cove Lane. It brings together local arts and cultural organizations, original work by area artists and artisans, food, and live music headlined by Mark Rapp and Soda City Band. A grant from South Arts, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the South Carolina Arts Commission, helps pay for it. The kickoff lasts an hour, so it fits easily before dinner.

After the kickoff, the park becomes the regular weekly gathering place. The Hilton Head Community Market, sponsored by the Island Rec Center, sets up at 39 Shelter Cove Lane from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It appears on the Shelter Cove calendar for Saturday, Oct. 10, Saturday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct. 24. The harbour concert ran Thursday evenings and drew a crowd that brought chairs and stayed for three hours. The market runs three hours on Saturday mornings.

The park's one free evening event this month is the Pumpkin Patch on Friday, Oct. 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. Bounce houses, pumpkins and games are free. The Halloween costume contest starts at 5:45 p.m. The train ride, concessions and rock wall cost extra.

Evenings After The Harbour Run On Tickets

Once the Thursday series ends, the evening events near Palmetto Dunes, apart from the Pumpkin Patch, have three things in common. Each one happens once, each has a price or needs a reservation, and each is tied to a cause or a kitchen. The calendar between the last concert and Thanksgiving looks like this:

Date Event Where Cost
Wed., Oct. 21, 5:30–6:30 p.m. Concert for the Kids, with Pretty Darn Poseidon Rooftop, 38 Shelter Cove Lane Ticketed, light appetizers included
Fri., Nov. 6, 5–8 p.m. Hilton Head Oyster Festival Friday feast Shelter Cove Community Park $60 admission; VIP tables for groups of 10
Thu., Nov. 19, 6–9 p.m. Beni di Batasiolo Piemonte wine dinner Alexander's Restaurant & Wine Bar Reservation

Concert for the Kids is the smallest of the three and has the strongest local ties. The Children's Center hosts it as a fundraiser for its early childhood education and care programs. Poseidon is donating the rooftop and providing complimentary appetizers. Pretty Darn is the duo of Kyle Wareham and Nick Poulin, and the event listing says chances to see them perform together are rare. Poulin is a former student of The Children's Center, so the night brings him back to play for a program he attended.

The Oyster Festival's Friday night is the biggest event at the park this fall. The Hilton Head Island Recreation Association's listing describes an all-you-can-eat spread of steamed local oysters, Lowcountry boil, pulled pork, shrimp and grits, and chili, with drinks sold separately and live music all evening. It also warns, "We will sell out, so buy tickets now!" On Saturday, Nov. 7, the festival moves to Lowcountry Celebration Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission there is $10 at the gate. It's free for children under 11 and for veterans, active military, police and firefighters with ID. Both days are rain-or-shine and cashless. The Friday feast costs six times as much as Saturday admission, and it's the only half of the festival held at Shelter Cove.

Inside The Gate, The Courts Outlast The Fairways

The resort's own fall schedule follows the same pattern. Pickleball fills October, and golf takes a short break at the start of November.

Palmetto Dunes' October newsletter introduced a new winter pickleball schedule. Its featured new clinic is PPT Pickleball Partner Therapy, held Wednesdays, Oct. 14, 21 and 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Two daily round robins also run, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The Oct. 21 clinic overlaps the first hour of Concert for the Kids at Poseidon. On Oct. 14, the clinic starts at the same hour as the Crescendo kickoff and runs past it.

Golf slows for two days the following week. The Palmetto Dunes golf newsletter lists overseeding on both the Arthur Hills and Robert Trent Jones courses for Nov. 2 and 3. Both courses will be cart-path-only on those days. The overseeding falls in the same week as the Oyster Festival Friday. The weekly Full Swing Clinic runs at Arthur Hills every Tuesday and Friday.

  1. Monday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 3: Arthur Hills and Robert Trent Jones are cart-path-only for overseeding.
  2. Friday, Nov. 6: the Oyster Festival feast at Shelter Cove Community Park, 5 to 8 p.m.
  3. Saturday, Nov. 7: the festival's daytime half at Lowcountry Celebration Park, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Thanksgiving Brings The Calendar Back Inside

The fall season ends where it started for many households, at the restaurants inside the resort. Alexander's offers a prix fixe Thanksgiving meal for $75 per person. A children's turkey dinner with dessert for guests under 12 is $28. Both prices include tax and gratuity. Big Jim's offers dine-in service or a to-go family package for the holiday.

The harbour itself still has offers running after the concerts end. Aloha pontoon rentals at Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina are 10% off when booked 20 or more days ahead with the code BOOKAHEAD. The offer covers new rentals through Dec. 31, 2026, and excludes tax, fees and fuel. A forthcoming tenant could also give the harbour a reason to visit in the off-season. One Hilton Head's Aug. 29 listing describes The Readery as a café and library combining books, food and alcohol at 9 Harbourside Lane, Unit 1A. It's still marked "Coming soon," with no opening date published.

Until The Readery opens, the Neptune statue will mostly be a meeting point again after Thursday. The Saturday market, the Oct. 23 Pumpkin Patch and the Nov. 6 oyster feast are the dates to put on the calendar at Shelter Cove.

Owners who measure a Palmetto Dunes property by how it lives across the full year, in October as well as in July, can talk with Coastal Investment Network about what that pattern means for a specific home.
